The aims and objectives of the handicraft training programmes may be summed up as follows:

• To promote holistic growth of handicraft sector in the target villages of Mawkasain, Mawkaphan, Kenbah, Domskong, Kenmynsaw, and Gympiad which fall under Mawsynram block.
• To generate employment opportunities for skilled and unskilled persons, especially the unemployed youth.
• To raise economic standards of the people.
• To develop modern techniques for training in various crafts.
